Sarah Singer
The Tucson Jewish Community Center (the J) welcomed the 31st Board of Directors in May, appointing Sarah Singer as the 7th female to chair the board.
An associate at Gadarian & Cacy, PLLC, Sarah Singer is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona and the State Bar of New York and has served on the J’s board for 7 years.
Singer is a longtime Tucson resident who previously worked in investment banking and proprietary trading before receiving her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York, New York. She is also a member of the J’s first-ever Women inPower cohort, a fellowship that seeks to uplift female leaders through a social impact lens.
“Sarah is an outstanding and committed leader. Her vision and passion for the J and our place in the community will help lead us through the challenges of coming out of the pandemic and into a bright future. I look forward to us working together,” says Todd Rockoff, President and CEO of the J.
Joining Singer to lead the organization are longtime pillars of the Tucson community and former chairs Lex Sears and Thomas Warne. The J is thrilled to welcome back these leaders, who will offer their time, wisdom, and historical context to help continually strengthen the J’s programs and services.
Claire West, who previously served on the board of Arts for All (which will merge with the J later this year) and Ilana Addis, the Interim Chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at University of Arizona College of Medicine/Banner University Medical Center, also join the J’s board. They bring with them their commitment to the arts, those with disabilities, and whole-self wellness.
Eric Smith, Executive Director of the Center for Innovation at the University of Arizona, is also joinging the board. Smith is an alumni of the J’s Early Childhood Education program, as well as of Camp J, the J’s summer day camp.
“During this period of uncertainty, the critical role the J plays within our community will be stretched,” says Singer. “Though we are traveling new ground because of the pandemic, we are fortunate to have a board with the vision, experience, and commitment to navigate these challenging times.”
