Michaels Returns to AZPM as Senior Radio Producer

Peter Michaels rejoined AZPM in 2016 as a senior radio
producer responsible for producing Arizona Spotlight, working with
host Mark McLemore, and for producing the weekly Arizona Science
program.

Michaels, a broadcast journalist with more than 40 years of
experience, began his career at The Mutual Radio Network in New York
City. Three years later he was hired by NBC News as a writer and
editor for network television and radio news in New York and
Washington, D.C.

In 1987, he moved to National Public Radio (NPR) where he held several
positions including Executive Producer of Talk of the Nation. In
addition, he designed and developed the hourly news updates that are
now heard on NPR stations nationwide.

In 2003, after moving to Tucson, Arizona, he was named News Director
at Arizona Public Media (AZPM). He also worked for three years as
Communications Director for the National Institute for Civil
Discourse, housed at the University of Arizona.
