Hotel Congress Plaza Reopens, Cup Cafe and Maynards to Follow
Hotel Congress is welcoming back visitors to its Plaza and Cup Café with some new improvements.
The Plaza re-opened on Aug. 7 with new cooling misters, more shade and more to come over the next few weeks.
By streamlining and modernizing the kitchen and 102-year-old plumbing, the extensive renovations inside the Cup Cafe may not be entirely visible to the eye, but the place feels sharpened, fresher, and staff is able to work with a lot more ease. One major change: the penny floor is gone in lieu of the original tile laid down in 1919.
The Cup Cafe reopens Aug. 12 with new dishes like the Sonoran Chicken Club and Salmon Caprese, plus all old favorites.
At long last, Maynards is reopening Aug. 25. Chef Brian Smith is putting the final touches on his locally-inspired menu featuring ephemeral seasonal dishes that celebrate the harvests of the Sonoran Desert.
Smith is working to freshen up the menu and space and there is wonderful outdoor seating on the patio of the historic train depot.
