United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona Launches 23rd Annual Days of Caring
United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona is now inviting local non-profits, schools, child-care centers, long-term care facilities, community gardens, neighborhood associations, and others to benefit from Arizona’s largest single volunteer event, the 23rd Annual United Way’s Days of Caring.
On Oct. 21 and 22, the two-day initiative is expected to pair more than 100 local projects with thousands of caring volunteers to improve the Southern Arizona community one project at a time. Last year, more than 2,500 volunteers turned out to complete 113 projects. In addition, and due to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, virtual projects were encouraged and included, and dozens of virtual projects were conducted during the event.
The focus of Days of Caring will continue to be on projects that make a positive impact on the community, such as clean ups, beautification projects and nonprofit service. In addition to in-person projects, virtual projects such as kits, collection drives, trainings, and more can be submitted. The United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona team overseeing the event will continue following CDC and local public health guidelines for in-person projects and this will be communicated to project organizers and volunteers as the weekend approaches.
Days of Caring is supported by local sponsors and sponsorship opportunities are still available through Aug. 22. Sponsors receive early access to project selection. For more information on sponsorship please click here.
“It’s been such a pleasure to watch this event grow the past seven years I’ve been with United Way,” said Meredith Bode, director of community engagement. “We have a very generous community and it’s rewarding to see how both the project beneficiaries and volunteers are impacted by this event. I highly encourage any organization, school or agency who fits the qualifications to take advantage of this opportunity.”
“Our century of service began with recruiting volunteers to help. That’s why Days of Caring is so important,” said Tony Penn, president and CEO of United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. “Days of Caring is a high impact event that benefits thousands each year. We’re grateful to the companies, agencies and volunteers who have participated these past two decades. This year’s Days of Caring marks a special significance as we celebrate our Century of Service in 2022.”
Project registration for United Way’s Days of Caring is now open and runs through August 5 for both in-person and virtual projects. The deadline for Early Bird Submission is July 8, and those submitting by then will be entered into a drawing to receive $500 towards their project.
