UArizona’s MAP Dashboard Wins National Award
The Making Action Possible Dashboard has again been recognized for making the region’s economic, demographic and cultural data available, approachable and accessible to the public.
The Council for Community and Economic Research selected the MAP Dashboard for the 2021 Research Award for Data Collection, Dissemination and Visualization. The C2ER program recognizes the contribution of research activities to the success of local, regional, or state community, economic, and workforce development initiatives. Founded in 1961, C2ER promotes excellence in community and economic research by providing:
- a robust network of industry professionals
- training and insights provided by top industry experts
- advocacy at the state and federal level along with the high-quality data needed to support robust advocacy initiatives
“The robust use of data provided through the MAP Dashboard reflects the extensive support of the dashboard by community members,” said Jennifer Pullen, MAP Dashboard coordinator and research economist. “These groups include the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, Pima Association of Governments, the Southern Arizona Leadership Council, Sun Corridor Inc., the University of Arizona, Tucson Electric Power, the Thomas R. Brown Foundation, the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation, Tucson International Airport, Cox Communications, NüPOINT Marketing, the Arizona Daily Star and many others.”
Since its founding in 2014, the MAP Dashboard continues to be recognized by international, national and local organizations, including the Impact Award by the worldwide The Community Indicators Consortium, and the regional Metropolitan Pima Alliance Common Ground award. Further, the Economic and Business Research Center was selected as one of three finalists for the Arizona Governor’s Celebration of Innovation in Academia for the quality of its digital resources.
