Tucson Federal Credit Union Awards Local Non-profits

Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) announced $45,000 in donations to three local non-profit organizations for their 6th Annual Community Partnership Awards. TFCU selected the recipients based on their community impact and their dedication to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” At the official check presentation on June 1st, 2016, TFCU awarded Aviva Children’s Services with $25,000 and both Tu Nidito and Intermountain Centers for Human Development with $10,000. Susan Stansberry, TFCU’s President/CEO said, “These organizations make awe-inspiring efforts to strengthen our community and transform lives. We’re honored to contribute to their success.”

Aviva Children’s Services provides services to children who are victims of neglect, abuse, poverty, and are in the care of the Department of Child Safety. The funds will be used to remodel a visitation center which is vital to the family reunification process.

Tu Nidito provides emotional, social, and educational tools to children and families whose lives have been impacted by a serious illness or death. The funds will support the Children to Children bereavement support groups and the concurrent support groups for their parents and caregivers, where they learn how to support their grieving child.

Intermountain Centers for Human Development provides services for children and adults diagnosed with serious emotional disabilities, mental illness, and developmental delays. The funds will be directed to the Intermountain Academy where children with autism are provided with resources to reach their full potential.

TFCU was founded in 1937 as Tucson Teachers Federal Credit Union. TFCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in Pima County. Today, TFCU has grown to more than 49,000 members and seven locations in Tucson, Marana, and Sahuarita. Their growth and success comes from those members who use their services, a dedicated group of volunteers who are elected by their members to represent them, and a great staff who are committed to creating an exceptional experience.
