Salpointe Catholic High School Graduates 263 Students for Class of 2014
An Astounding $18,638,661 Earned in Merit Scholarships
Salpointe Catholic High School is proud to announce that the 263 members of the Class of 2014 have been admitted to 200 colleges and universities around the world. Among the impressive list of colleges, Salpointe graduates were accepted at Duke University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Johns Hopkins University, Marquette University, Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, and University of Notre Dame just to name a few. Several graduates will be heading out of the country to schools such as Temple University’s Japan Campus, University of Edinburgh, Trinity College in Dublin, Charles University in Prague, and the University of Waterloo in Canada.
“We are thrilled to announce that the Class of 2014 earned more than $18.5 million in merit scholarships,” says Principal Sr. Helen Timothy, IBVM. “We wish our graduates grand success as they pursue education and careers after high school.”
Salpointe’s Baccalaureate Mass was held May 17 at St. Augustine Cathedral followed by a commencement ceremony at the Tucson Convention Center. Graduation speakers were Isabel Gossler, attending the University of Arizona Honors College, and Nicholas DiChristofano, attending the University of San Diego. In addition, the following awards were presented to the Class of 2014:
- Carmelite Medal Awards – Juan Blanco and Araceli Islas, both attending the University of Arizona Honors College
- John Hughes Spirit Award – Sergio Pineda, attending Northern Arizona University
- Outstanding Male Athlete – Cameron Denson, attending University of Arizona
- Outstanding Female Athlete – Krystal Quihuis, attending University of Arizona
- Outstanding Fine Artist, Performance – Anthony Gibes, attending University of Arizona
- Outstanding Fine Artist, Visual – Peter Mare, attending Arizona State University
These fine Lancers and their fellow classmates join the legacy of leadership cherished by Salpointe’s 16,000+ alumni.
