Get Started Tucson pitch competition

Local businesses to compete for $10K prize in
“Shark Tank” style Get Started Tucson pitch competition returning
to Scottish Rite Nov. 5

Get Started Tucson, the small-business pitch competition
hosted by Cox Business and Inc. magazine, was so successful last year,
it’s back November 5, where local southern Arizona start-ups and
small businesses will compete for a $5,000 cash prize and additional
prizes valued in excess of $5,000.

Self-nominations are now being accepted through October 26, at
coxblue.com/getstarted2/. Five finalists will be chosen by Cox
Business and Inc. magazine. Those finalists will present their pitches
on Thursday, November 5, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to a panel of business
experts and a live audience of their peers. The judging panel will
provide constructive business feedback to each finalist before they
select the winner.

Get Started Tucson’s panel of small-business experts include:
• Basil “Base” Horner, chairman of the screening panel for Desert Angels
• Justin Williams, founder and CEO of Startup Tucson
• Jon Fine, executive editor of Inc. magazine
• Sharon Lurtsema, founder and CEO of Corporate CARE Solutions
• Ken Kraft, vice president, Cox Business

Registration to be part of the live audience at the event is now open
as well at Coxblue.com/getstartedtucson. Audience members will be
invited to participate in the interactive Q&A session and will learn
how to grow their businesses to the next level, leverage digital
media, and attract the attention of the right influencers from the
expert panel.
Get Started Tucson will be held downtown at the Tucson Scottish Rite,
160 S. Scott Avenue. The event is free to the public with
preregistration by November 2, and includes networking, cocktails,
appetizers and complimentary parking.
