Avalon Solar Project to Deliver 300 Construction Jobs, Enough Clean Energy
to Power 7,000 Homes Upon Late 2014 Completion

Construction officially begins next week on the Avalon Solar project, a utility-scale solar-energy production plant near Tucson, following a groundbreaking ceremony May 14 at 10 a.m. on site.

You are cordially invited to attend the groundbreaking.

The project, also known as the Pima Mine Road Solar Generating Facility is a 35 MWdc renewable-energy facility that will supply Tucson Electric Power (TEP) with enough electricity to power more than 7,000 homes when complete late this year. A collaboration between Asarco, TEP and Clēnera is making the project a reality.

GROUNDBREAKING EVENT DETAILS:
What: Join us May 14 at 10 a.m. at the Asarco Mineral Discovery Center, 15 miles south of Tucson. A bus will transport guests to the Avalon Solar site for the groundbreaking ceremony.
