CAP Wins 10th Consecutive Budget Award
Central Arizona Project (CAP) has received the Government Finance Officers’ Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2014-2015 Biennial Budget. This is the tenth consecutive award received by CAP (five annual and five biennial) covering 15 budget years, 2001 through 2015.
In order to receive this award, a government unit must publish a budget document that meets stringent program criteria as a policy document, an operations guide, a financial plan and a communications device. The award is valid for a period of two years only.
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Ted Cooke, Assistant General Manager of Finance and Information Technology. “Because CAP delivers almost 500 billion gallons of Colorado River water to central and southern Arizona every year, we have dramatically and positively changed the economic and environmental landscape of our state. With that enormous impact comes an enormous responsibility to be thorough and transparent in our financial communications to our customers, stakeholders, the general public and other interested parties. For fifteen years, our participation in this GFOA program has helped us meet this responsibility.”
