Pima Community College Launches New Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree

Pima Community College celebrates the launch of its new Bachelor of Arts in Education degree program, marking a significant milestone in the College’s efforts to expand educational opportunities and address Arizona’s teacher shortage.

The new degree symbolizes a new chapter in PCC’s commitment to preparing the next generation of educators.

Launched this fall, PCC’s Bachelor of Arts in Education provides students with an affordable, accessible pathway to becoming certified teachers. The Arizona Department of Education-approved teacher preparation program prepares graduates to earn dual certification in elementary education (K-8) and special education (K-12), expanding their career opportunities while helping meet the growing demand for qualified teachers.

“Pima’s Bachelor of Arts in Education program is designed to support our local schools by preparing educators who are already invested in their communities,” said Allison Landy, dean of education and student Success at PCC. “By offering dual certification, we’re giving future teachers the skills and flexibility to make a meaningful difference in classrooms across Southern Arizona.”

Students interested in the program must complete an application, attend an information session and advisor meeting, obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete required general education coursework.
