Tucson Airport Authority Joins National Industry Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Tucson Airport Authority has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Airports Council International – North America, an industry association dedicated to the advocacy of airports, and is proud to have two team members joining the newly established working group with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

As ACI-NA announced recently, this working group will help propel vital work for the trade association representing commercial service airports in the United States and Canada.

Kim DeLaTorre, TAA’s manager of talent, will work alongside 23 other professionals and DEI experts to share best practices and create opportunities in airports across North America.

DeLaTorre joined the TAA People Operations department in August 2021 with seven years of experience at Raytheon Missiles & Defense, where she held roles in Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and most recently Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

“Leadership at the TAA is wholly supportive of the work we are doing to make our organization diverse, inclusive, and eventually, a certified Great Place to Work,” said DeLaTorre. “I look forward to adding to the larger discussion with my peers across the country who are just as passionate as I am about DEI initiatives.”

TAA President and CEO Danette Bewley, currently serving on the ACI-NA Board of Directors, will have an integral role in the work of the DEI working group as liaison to her fellow Directors. She will support the group as it takes a deep dive into our industry’s commitments to DEI issues and assist the association to develop a clear and actionable approach to one of the most important leading issues of our time.

“I am proud to serve on such a diverse international Board of Directors, but we know there is more to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion than mere representation,” said Bewley. “The DEI Working Group, comprised of a high caliber group of participants, bring vast perspectives, and represents every facet of the North American airport industry; they will help guide the discussion and chart a path forward on how ACI-NA as an organization can contribute to this important area in a meaningful way.”

Details about the newly formed working group can be found here.
