Tucson is a city of festivals − as recognized by the International Festivals & Events Association − and downtown is at the epicenter.

Free and ticketed events tailored to every interest draw a steady stream of locals and visitors that fill bars, patios and plazas throughout downtown and surrounding historic neighborhoods.

Whether you are a foodie who wants to experience regional culinary heritage and maize traditions at the Annual Pueblos del Maíz or a bird enthusiast who wants to enjoy the Tucson Bird Alliance Southeast Arizona Birding Festival, there is something for everyone.

Below is sampling of the distinctive festivals and events that help keep the economy humming year-round.

53rd Annual Tucson Meet Yourself

Expected attendance: 110,000+

When: Oct. 16-18, 2026

Tucson’s free flagship folklife festival spans three city blocks downtown and brings together more than 500 musicians, dancers, artists and home cooks to share the traditions of the region’s many communities, per organizer Southwest Folklife Alliance. This year, the festival joins the Smithsonian’s “Of the People” initiative marking America’s 250th anniversary − one of roughly 40 folklife festivals nationwide chosen to help tell the country’s story through its living communities, with new stages and pavilions added for the occasion.

37th Annual All Souls Procession Weekend

Expected attendance: 150,000

When: Nov. 6-8, 2026

Presented by nonprofit arts collective Many Mouths One Stomach, this “massive, radically inclusive” event honors, mourns and celebrates loved ones who have passed. It opens with ticketed “Dance of the Dead” concerts Friday and Saturday, then culminates Sunday in the two-mile All Souls Procession downtown, ending with the ceremonial burning of the Urn. Community altars and free traditional-arts workshops run throughout the weeks leading up to the weekend.

10th Annual DUSK Music Festival

Expected attendance: 15,000

When: Nov. 13-14, 2026

This downtown celebration of music, culture, food, art and community features nationally recognized musical artists, immersive art installations and local food and beverage offerings. The lineup is a mix of electronic, hip-hop, R&B, underground, alternative, pop, indie, psychedelic, punk, rock and folk music. Headliners include Phantogram, Fetty Wap, BigXthaPlug and Knock2, plus more than 25 other artists.

HSL Properties Tucson Jazz Festival

Expected attendance: 12,000-18,000

When: Jan. 15-23, 2027

This collection of separate ticketed and free events includes more than 40 concerts featuring local, national and international jazz artists. Performances in a variety of jazz styles, including swing, Latin and fusion, range from intimate club sets at La Rosa and the Century Room and late-night jam sessions to bigger shows at venues such as the Fox Tucson Theatre and Rialto Theatre. The festival’s marquee event, free and open to all ages, is the Downtown Jazz Fiesta, which features local jazz musicians on two outdoor stages.

15th Annual Tucson Desert Song Festival

Expected Attendance: 15,000+

When: Jan. 21-April 20, 2027

This three-month celebration features world-class singers in a mix of programming, from classical to jazz, opera, theater, chamber and choral ensembles, orchestral, ballet and solo vocal recitals. Internationally celebrated vocalists, including soprano Ana María Martínez, mezzo-soprano Angela Brower, bass-baritone Dashon Burton and vocal ensemble Chanticleer as well as violinist Joshua Bell and soprano Larisa Martínez, will join Tucson’s leading performing arts organizations, presenting premiere performances, master classes and lectures in intimate settings.

TENWEST Fest

Expected attendance: 1,000+

When: March 30-April 2, 2027

Billed as the Southwest’s largest entrepreneurship and creativity festival, TENWEST is fueled by Vantage West Credit Union and hosted by Startup Tucson. TENWEST “calls forth the entrepreneur, creator and innovator within all of us so we can navigate our changing world,” according to its organizers. Events include conference sessions, keynotes, workshops, mixers and IdeaFunding, Arizona’s longest-running pitch competition. In the 10+ years of TENWEST, tens of thousands of attendees have launched and grown their ventures as founders and creators.

45th Annual Tucson International Mariachi Conference

Expected attendance: 15,000

When: April 28-May 2, 2027

The world’s longest continuously running event of its kind features mariachi and folklórico workshops for students, student concerts and the El Mariachi Canta Vocal Competition, plus Friday’s Espectacular Concert with renowned mariachi groups and baile folklórico dancers. Saturday’s outdoor Festival de Garibaldi runs all day downtown, and Sunday closes with a mariachi mass. Proceeds benefit children’s services provided by La Frontera Arizona.
