Cummings Aerospace Opens Tucson Office
Cummings Aerospace, a Native American woman-owned small business, has opened a new facility in Tucson to support its growing DoD portfolio. Cummings Aerospace capabilities encompass Model Based Systems Engineering, modeling and simulation, software engineering, mechanical and electrical design and advanced manufacturing.
“We will leverage our core competencies in the flight sciences of aerospace system development and strategic partnerships with industry and academia to establish a corporate base in Tucson,” said President and CEO Sheila Cummings.
Located at 4713 E. Camp Lowell Dr., the 3000 sq. ft-facility will support Cummings Aerospace’s missile defense, Air Force and Navy programs. The company plans to hire more than 20 employees over the next 18 months for this location. Opportunities exist for entry to principal level systems engineers, software engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers and operations staff.
Kelly Francis, director of strategic development for Cummings Aerospace, will lead the company’s startup in Tucson. Francis joins the company following a 21-year career as a senior leader supporting DoD programs, focused on customer service and value, program execution and company growth. Francis successfully led program teams to exceed delivery requirements and company financial commitments, as well as, defined and implemented complex strategic partnerships for market and technology growth.
Francis’s program leadership experience spans prototype, development and production programs for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, International Navies, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and Missile Defense Agency. “I am excited about our plans to engage in the Tucson community through STEM outreach, veterans programs, the University of Arizona and non-profit organizations,” she said.
