Bourn Companies Acquires Innovation Park in Oro Valley

Bourn Companies, through BP Innovation Partners, has acquired approximately 335 acres of undeveloped property within Innovation Park, a major corporate campus in Oro Valley and one of Southern Arizona’s significant employment centers. The seller was represented in the transaction by Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR.

The acquisition places a substantial portion of Innovation Park’s future development under the direction of locally based Bourn Companies and reflects the company’s commitment to the property and surrounding community. Bourn Companies’ regional portfolio includes projects within Williams Centre and The Bridges, as well as Uptown—formerly Foothills Mall—The Landing and the forthcoming Cascada.

Innovation Park stands apart for what is already in place. Anchored by Roche Tissue Diagnostics’ headquarters, the campus is an important center for bioscience, employment and economic activity in Oro Valley. Innovation Park was created by developer Venture West (Neil Simon and Fred Steiniger), whose vision and investment established the campus’s substantial infrastructure, mature landscaping and distinctive setting framed by the Santa Catalina Mountains. That strong foundation, combined with the property’s development opportunities, made Innovation Park a natural fit for Bourn Companies.

“Innovation Park is a rare asset. The infrastructure, the landscaping and the surroundings are already exceptional, and our job is to build on that foundation,” said Don Bourn, founder of Bourn Companies. “We see an opportunity to create a world-class, mixed-use business park that expands on everything Innovation Park was established to be.”

“The acquisition is an exciting and significant investment in Oro Valley’s future,” said Jeff Wilkins, Oro Valley Town Manager. “Bourn Companies’ commitment to Innovation Park strengthens our economy, supports job growth and reinforces Oro Valley’s position as a premier destination for business.”

The long-term vision is a business park that serves employers and employees alike. That means creating an environment that attracts and retains world-class companies, supporting those businesses with the amenities today’s workforce expects and reinforcing Oro Valley’s standing as a premier location for innovation, employment and quality of life in Southern Arizona.

“Investing in Innovation Park is an investment in the future of Southern Arizona,” said Joe Snell, president and CEO of The Chamber of Southern Arizona. “High-quality commercial and innovation-focused real estate assets are essential to our region’s ability to attract new companies, support growing businesses and create high-paying jobs. The purchase of Innovation Park gives Southern Arizona another platform to compete for investment and economic opportunity. We applaud Don Bourn’s commitment to ensuring that our region has the infrastructure and business-ready space needed to grow for years to come.”

Planning is in the early stages. Bourn Companies will work closely with the Town of Oro Valley and community stakeholders in the months ahead to refine the vision for the property, with additional details to be shared as plans take shape.
