Rockin’ 4 Heroes Invests in the Future of Tucson Police Officers with Education Grants
Six local police officers who are advancing their careers through continuing education and training while serving their communities have been selected to receive grants from local nonprofit Rockin’ 4 Heroes.
Each officer was presented with a $1,000 check this week from the organization’s Law Enforcement Support Fund which provides financial assistance to active-duty law enforcement officers pursuing education and training designed to enhance their professional skills and career development.
The fund supports officers working toward undergraduate or graduate degrees, leadership development opportunities, professional accreditation and specialized advanced certifications.
The six recipients currently serve with the Tucson Police Department, Marana Police Department and Oro Valley Police Department:
- Officer Jonathan Austad, Tucson Police Department
- Officer Elizabeth Mitchel , Tucson Police Department
- Officer Angel Espadas, Tucson Police Department
- Officer Maritza Rumsley, Marana Police Department
- Officer Allicia Caughlin, Marana Police Department
- Sergeant Ryan Goss; Oro Valley Police Department.
“When we invest in the professional development of our law enforcement officers, we’re also investing in the safety and well-being of our communities,” said Bonnie Quinn who founded Rockin’ 4 Heroes with her husband, Michael. “We are grateful to these 6 officers for their commitment to protect and serve. But their dedication doesn’t stop when their shift ends: they continue to learn, grow, and strengthen their skills to be even better officers and leaders.”
Rockin’ 4 Heroes was established to honor first responders, active military, veterans and Gold Star families. In addition to the Law Enforcement Support Fund, the organization supports initiatives that benefit these heroes and their families, including the Rockin’ 4 Heroes Jacob Dindinger EMT Scholarship at Pima Community College, and the Rockin’ 4 Heroes Veteran Student Endowment at the University of Arizona.
The nonprofit celebrates and pays public tribute to these hero groups at its signature event, the annual Rockin’ 4 Heroes Concert, one of Southern Arizona’s largest free outdoor concerts. This year’s event is November 8th at James D. Kriegh Park in Oro Valley. For more information, visit www.Rockin4Heroes.org.
