The Pima County Workforce Investment Board has welcomed five new members who have agreed to donate their time and talents to serving the community.
New members are:
- Karen Molina, Workforce Learning and Development Manager, Raytheon Missiles and Defense — serving as a Business category representative.
- Irisbeth “Iris” Matheny, Human Resources Generalist, El Rio Health — serving as a Business category representative; representing the Health and Bioscience industry sector.
- Peter Loya, Director of Community and Government Relations, Campus Research Corporation — serving as a Business category representative; representing the Emerging Technologies and Real Estate industries.
- Trish Muir, Chair, Pima Area Labor Federation — serving as a Workforce category representative; representing the Labor Organization Representative nominated by a Local Labor Federation subcategory.
- Abra McAndrew, Assistant Vice President, Access, Engagement and Opportunity, University of Arizona — serving as a Balance of Local Workforce Development Board Membership category representative; representing the Entities that represent Local Educational Agencies subcategory.
“I’m honored and humbled to welcome this dedicated group of professionals to the Workforce Investment Board,” said WIB Chairman Dr. Mark P. Vitale.
“I am impressed by each person’s professional achievement and standing within our community. Each represents a key employer in Pima County who has brought success, collaboration and achievement into our community. I am confident each will be an invaluable team member as we continue to address workforce and career challenges being faced by our Pima County community, both now and in the future.”
The WIB members are appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors. The board includes representatives of local businesses, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions.
The WIB’s mission is to provide recommendations on local workforce policy and oversight of the Pima County One-Stop Career Center. Pima County One-Stop aids businesses in recruitment and retention of qualified employees at all skill levels. The One-Stop provides employers with a single point of contact to connect with hundreds of community programs, private and public training colleges, federal and local grant funds, as well as, thousands of local job applicants.
